In Hydrocyclones, the separation occurs due to the creation of a very fast spinning vortex within each cyclone. This creates high centrifugal forces (over 1,000 g) which accelerates the separation of the particles from the water. This is similar to what occurs within a centrifuge. In both types of our hydrocyclones the fast spinning vortex is created by special internal geometries and high velocity tangential inlets. This high velocity is created by conversion of the pressure/flow of the pumped fluid. The hydrocyclones are static, ie no moving parts. The energy of separation comes from the separation set feed pump.
