Our Hydrocyclone technology now has the ability to pretreat effluent before it is further processed via the likes of a DAF or a biological solution. Previously there has been no other technology that was practical, useful or commercially viable for this application, eg separation tanks too inefficient, centrifuges too expensive, filters not practical etc.
Our separation packages are very easy to run and maintain, are robust, can handle wide load fluctuations, all temperature ranges, and are very economical.
View our equipment as being like a centrifuge without the high purchase and running costs and without the operation sensitivity but without quite as high separation performance.
Why Pretreat?:
Any effluent that has a degree of insoluble oils / fats and or insoluble heavy solids will benefit by pretreating with our technology as follows:
Cost Reduction:
a) Sludge Reduction: – Removal of contaminant prior to main treatment will reduce amount of sludge produced by factor of approximately 10.
b) Chemical Reduction:- Removal of contaminant prior to main treatment will reduce amount of chemical required to effectively operate DAF.
c) Power Reduction:- Removal of contaminant prior to main treatment will reduce amount of aerators required (power) to effectively operate Aerobic digester.
d) Operator Reduction:- With a constant low load being fed to the main treatment section this section can run more efficiently and reliably reducing operator attention of this plant.
Extra Income:
a) Valuable oils and fats can be efficiently separated, recovered and quickly returned to the main process for reuse or sale. Often extra income arising from this can cover the costs of the equipment within 12 months or less.
b) Valuable solids can be efficiently separated, recovered and quickly returned to the main process for reuse or sale. These are generally of lesser value compared to oils and fats.
Improved Water Quality:
a) By reducing the load to the main treatment section, this enables the unit can function more efficiently, supplying better water quality.
b) By standardizing the load to the main treatment section, the unit can function more efficiently, supplying better water quality.
c) By reducing the Fat, Oil & Grease levels digesters will work more economically and efficiently.
